Vision
Our Kids Read vision is a world where all children are literate. Lerveraging the power of community, Our Kids Read envisions a community of global citizens who volunteer their time to help read virtually with children in their community or across the globe. Our ulimate goal is to euse the power of AI, global community and engaging stories to elimintte childhood illiteracy by the year 2050.
Mission
Our Kids Read's mission is to spark the joy of reading in K-5 students in underserved communities, especially those facing literacy barriers, by providing free access to diverse, culturally affirming books and live 1:1 reading sessions with trained volunteers. The organization combats the literacy gap by nurturing confidence, fluency, identity affirmation, and a lifelong love of reading using remote and in-person literacy experiences.
